Deriv, formerly Binary.com, offers CFDs, multipliers and options on forex, stocks, commodities, cryptocurrencies and its own Derived Indices. Clients in the European Economic Area deal with Deriv Investments (Europe) Limited in Malta (MFSA). Other clients deal, depending on country and product, with companies in the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, Mauritius, Vanuatu and Labuan, or with unlicensed companies in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Samoa; a Dubai company holds a UAE Capital Market Authority licence. The group’s ultimate parent is Deriv Group SEZC of the Cayman Islands.
Research-based assessment This profile has not completed TTI’s on-site verification and 30-day platform review. How TTI verification works
Each licence was matched on the regulator’s own register on the date shown. Unverified claims are listed under Regulation and legal entities.
Assessment summary
Deriv’s Malta company is authorised by the MFSA, as ESMA’s register confirms, and its Vanuatu, Labuan and UAE companies appear on their regulators’ records; we could not check the British Virgin Islands, Mauritius and Cayman licences it publishes. Outside the EU, much of the business runs through companies with no licence: the Saint Vincent company holds the Wallet, P2P and Standard CFD accounts and the Samoa company options and multipliers. EU clients get segregated client money, negative balance protection, Malta’s investor compensation scheme and the Arbiter for Financial Services. The international terms set out no client money segregation, make negative balance protection discretionary and name no compensation scheme, although Deriv is a member of the Financial Commission. The group’s ultimate parent is Deriv Group SEZC, whose owners are not named. Company names and addresses differ between Deriv’s pages, its terms and the registers. Brazil’s CVM ordered Deriv.com and Binary.com to stop offering services to Brazilian residents in 2023.
The regulatory pages and the terms give each contracting company’s full name, company number and registered office.
Independent dispute resolution is available 12162531
EU clients can take unresolved complaints to Malta’s Office of the Arbiter for Financial Services. For international clients Deriv names the Financial Commission, which lists Deriv as an active member since 8 June 2020, although its page does not say which Deriv companies are covered.
Complaints go to complaints@deriv.com, are acknowledged by email and answered within 15 business days, under a published EU complaints policy and the international terms.

We could not check the British Virgin Islands, Mauritius and Cayman licences on their registers, and the Saint Vincent and Samoa companies hold no licence.
The Malta company is authorised to deal on own account and execute orders in CFDs and to hold client money, the Vanuatu company holds a principal’s dealer licence (classes A to C on the VFSC’s list), the Dubai company may broker OTC derivatives and spot currencies, and the Labuan company is a licensed money broker. But the international terms make two unlicensed companies, Deriv (SVG) LLC and Deriv Capital International Ltd in Samoa, the counterparty for the Wallet, Standard CFDs on Deriv MT5 and cTrader, and options and multipliers.

Clients can tell which regulated entity serves them 19121415
The international terms list every contracting company and the products each one provides, and the footers name the regulated companies. But the company a client deals with depends on country and product and may differ by account; the EU regulatory page lists a Dubai company and repeats the Saint Vincent company’s details under the heading Deriv.com Limited, while the international page lists a Samoa company instead; and Deriv (Seychelles) Ltd, which the FSA lists with Deriv’s website, is not mentioned.
Criteria and their weighting are explained in the methodology.
Corporate transparency and ownership 13% of score 81 out of 100
Whether you can find out who owns and runs the firm.
GLEIF records Deriv Group SEZC of the Cayman Islands as the ultimate parent of the Guernsey holding company and the Labuan, BVI, Vanuatu and Saint Vincent companies, and says it is owned by natural persons, who are not named. Companies House lists Jean-Yves Christian Sireau as holding 75% or more of Deriv (UK) Limited, the group’s payments and treasury agent, but we found no record of who owns Deriv Group SEZC.
Deriv lists its subsidiaries, names Deriv.com Limited of Guernsey as their holding company and explains which company provides which products. It does not mention Deriv Group SEZC, which GLEIF records as the ultimate parent and as the direct parent of the Labuan and Saint Vincent companies, and the Malta disclosures say only that the company belongs to the Deriv Group.

The Malta company publishes its 2025 investment firm disclosures, with own funds and a balance sheet reconciled to its audited statements. We found no financial statements for the companies that serve international clients.
Criteria and their weighting are explained in the methodology.
Client fund protections and disclosed safeguards 13% of score 68 out of 100
What protects client money if something goes wrong.

Retail clients have negative balance protection 91622
EU retail clients have negative balance protection. The international terms say Deriv may offer it at its sole discretion and is not obliged to, and the international risk disclosure says losses may exceed the sums deposited.
The Malta company participates in Malta’s Investor Compensation Scheme, which pays 90% of a net loss up to €20,000, as the scheme’s list confirms. No scheme covers international clients; the Financial Commission’s fund only pays its own awards, up to €20,000 per complaint, if a member fails to pay.

Spreads, margin and swap rates are published by instrument, the EU key information documents work through the costs, and the EU terms state the multiplier commission and a dormant fee of up to USD or EUR 10 every six months. The international terms allow unquantified adjustments in Deriv’s favour on dormant accounts and currency transfers.
The EU order execution policy says Deriv is always principal and the sole execution venue, that it may hedge with liquidity providers or keep the risk and profit from clients’ losses, and how it reviews its liquidity providers; the international trading terms set out the execution factors.

The complaints policy and key information documents carry version or update dates, but the terms are undated and Deriv may amend them without notice, notifying only material changes. The Labuan company’s change of name in December 2025 is not reflected in Deriv’s website or terms.

Brazil’s CVM orders Deriv.com and Binary.com to stop offering services in Brazil 29
· Comissão de Valores Mobiliários · Brazil · Last checked 7 Oct 2026
On 14 June 2023 the CVM announced Ato Declaratório CVM 20.948, finding signs that the broker Deriv.com, also reachable through binary.com, was seeking clients resident in Brazil for securities transactions without CVM authorisation. It ordered the immediate suspension of any public offering of securities intermediation services, directly or indirectly, including through websites, apps and social media, with a daily fine of R$1,000 for non-compliance. The CVM notes that a stop order is a precautionary measure, not a penalty.
